Southern Ia is flourishing with yellers,found a lot in different spots.Honey holes werent very plentiful but hopefully will be.Wednesday we should have quite a bit for sale.GOOD LUCK TO ALL SHROOMERS.One guy had 3 igloo coolers full didn’t know LBS but it was awesome,he’d been hunting on his horse. Beats the heck out of four wheelers!!!!

Iowa Morels - April 28, 2009 - Went home for lunch around 1pm and found these 10 in the woods behind my house. Looks like the season has just begun here. These tasty morels were found south of the I-80 bridge over the Des Moines river. - Lee

They’ve eaten dirt twice.

With any luck, they’ll be eating dirt sometime in the next few weeks.

Dining on dirt is how Rocki Shepard and her band of morel hunters celebrate an extraordinary find, or “hitting the mother lode,” as she puts it.

“It’s just a little bit of dirt,” Shepard said, explaining that when someone in the hunting party finds 300 or more morels in one place, everyone has to do a mushroom dance that involves kissing the ground and eating dirt.
