California Morels - March 4 - My girl & I went to San Jose, Ca. last week for a convention..
Wed. night the 3rd. we checked in. I went to park the car, and on my way in What do I find????? A couple morels growing out of the wood chips on the side of the walk by the front door. After a little look around my girl found two nice little grays on the island in the parking lot… Took a pic…….Thursday morning grabbed a newspaper and took a walk… Although they were on their way down we found a few more nice grays and then the Mother Lode of yellows! If a dozen qualifies as a Mother Lode! Considering we am 2000 plus miles from where we are used to finding them, and the fact — Max & Sequoia Morel

California (Home Depot) Morels - April 8, 2009 - In November, I put bark chips (home depot) over my back yard as part of landscaping. A few weeks ago, I spotted Morels growing in the bark chips. Perhaps they thought they were in a pine forest! Picked about a dozen of them. Last night, a mild rain here in California Central Coast area. Another crop popping up. Picked another dozen today. Here are a couple of pix.
