Hey there happy hunters this is licking county checking to see if any one has any sightings in the area. First word I have gotten is that today a single black spounge was located north of here in coshocton> The guy I spoke with say’s a buddy of his brought him a butter bowl of large blacks that means he found alot if he’s sharing them every one knows you get your fill first. Anyway very excited for the warm front coming our way. Should be great hunting this weekend. Fingers crossed please let me know of any local area finds not spots just type of woods, side of hills, hilly, flat, field, near rivers, old farms. I’ve hunted for alot of years but all my honey hole owners has past away, or house’s have been built. One thing I heard this year is that poplar”””””’s in the wood’s is good. I have always looked for the elm’s,in wood apple trees, thinking deer are big part for this one. Any way alway’s looking for new tips tricks speacial type locations. Thanks for reading my story. Any info is greatly apperciated.

Found over 3 pounds of greys on the 16th in the first 15 minutes. Almost all were surrounding a half dead elm, imagine that. Went back today found a few more and the yellows are out now in Butler County. Looking forward to the coming days. Even found some along the trail. Guess the onion bags are helpful in spreading spores. Good luck.

  45. Brenda Fields on April 13th, 2009 1:56 am

I was out with the grandkids this afternoon watching them hunt for easter eggs and I looked down at the bottom of one of the chimneys on the brick apartment building I live in, and there lo and behold were two large morels.
My father used to religiously go to Michagan yearly to hunt them and would come home with laundry baskets full. Our family loved them! He has been gone since 1978 and it has been that long since I tasted one.
I came in the house and researched how to identify them and after deciding I had “safe” ones I soaked them and later sauteed them in butter. Ohhh they tasted as good as I had remembered! Wonderful!
To find morels in inner city Dayton so close to my door..I think my Daddy was wishing me Happy Easter!
