North Carolina Morels - April 3, 2009 - Picked these today, April 3rd with my 10 and 12 yr old sons in Lee County (Sanford) in a local park. All under or near tulip poplars within a few feet of the paved path. Our first morel foray - what a blast! Thanks for the informative links and info.

Thank you for your photos & information. My family and I have hunted the mountains of Virginia for years but have a home in Saluda, NC now and would like to venture out in that area. We will try the parkway and Pisgah Nat’l Park as well. Do you have any other suggestions? In Virginia, we hunted old apple orchards. Have you tried there? Any advice is appreciated and happy hunting. So glad you are sharing this great experience with your children.
