It all depends on what you are trying to do with them. My grandma has been buying them for over a decade if you are planning on selling them you dont want them to be dry and crunchy but they cant be really wet either if you are planning on eating them you want them nice and juicy store them in a fridge or freezer but dont keep them in a fridge for more than a few days. Make sure you rinse them in salt water before storing to get rid of the bugs and dirt. Never eat a dried uncooked morrel it is poisones and cause you to puke a lot. to cook fry them in a pan with butter or cook them with cracker crumbs. you can look up some great recipes on the internet a few of my favorites morel and venison stroganoff. Morel omlets and just plain morrels with a little salt pepper and lawry’s mmmmmmmmmmm i cant wait til they start poppin up in wisconsin.
