Ok, this wasn't technically in Ct. But pretty darn close. Southern New York to be kinda exact. 5 1/2 lbs. Hit a few spots. So...Connecticut should really be ready in the next few days. Good luck all.
Hey Morchella. I looked in some of my Ct. spots in the past week. Zilch. Woods didn't seem ready yet. I don't mind getting lost in my car for hours! Most end with nothing but an empty gas tank. A little more knowledge gained on every trip. Today I got very lucky. I do agree with you...it will be soon here. Good luck. Gonna be a good year.
Back across the border this morning. Did a milk run to 4 of my spots. Found another 5lbs!!! Amazing year and haven't even found 1 in Ct. yet. Over 1100 thus far. I feel blessed. No bragging here. Just lucky and doing the leg work. It does pay off. Good luck guys. They are a comin!!!
Thank you Eric.Keying on Ash. Found an Apple with a broken arm. Big score. One lucky Elm. All the usual suspects. Just seems like it's too good to be true. North Westerly slopes today. Just in the right spots at the right time. Worked hard the last 2 days. You will get em if this pattern holds up.
Checked a new spot today, no morels yet but found something that looks like mycelium. Is there a way to tell if it’s morel mycelium? Was all over some leaf litter at the base of a large Sycamore by a stream bank.
Morchella. That is way above my level of knowledge. I would not have the slightest idea if that is morel mycelium?! I do know this. Keep looking. As you can see on this site they are starting to pop in upstate NY. Even 1 was found in Vt. Don't stop searching! Good luck.

I think my Southern NY spots are done for me. Found 180 today. Yellows and grays. Found 4 in Connecticut. Small grays. This rain pattern is nice but we can do with a bit of sun and warmth.

Wow! Nice finds. I hope I’ll still have some luck when I return to CT this weekend, but meanwhile I’ve had good luck in Southern Illinois last week.
Very nice rjmichna! Get back Saturday. Sunday they are calling for a washout. Next week some sun finally will make it all come together. Nice job. Get back safely.
Hey clutch2412 I may have noticed something from your photos . do we both favor the same morel harvesting tool??? Just wondering...

You know it redfred! Best things ever. Cuts everything! Including that beautiful morel in your photo! I bring knives as well but there just to litter the woods. Like my latest one on Wednesday! The clippers never leave my hand. Good job man.

Found 36 small grays after work today. Saw many others. Next week is looking good. Saw some small lilac buds today. Should be blooming soon. I am heading to NY tomorrow...with a couple Ct. stops as well. Good luck all.
Hello. Found these 2 guys growing alongside my cabin in Branford just this morning. As of 2 hours ago, I had no idea what one of these guys were. Hopefully I did not pick them too early?
Very nice Tom B ! Look perfect to me. Look for more around where you found these. Get down low and scan the area. You may be surprised to see more. Good luck.
Nice job rjmichna. Glad you got out there. I was busy. Wish I was in the woods too! Next 2 days with possible sun? What the heck is that!? But if it's true...fingers crossed here...we should be on em pretty good by the weekend. Good luck. I have many days off real soon. Fishing or shroomin? Love this time of year!
New member here - I hit the jackpot this morning with these beauties in my front yard. Easy foraging for sure. Next to an old crabapple tree with tulips in bloom underneath and lots of old leaves and undergrowth (late doing my spring cleanup this year).

Yeah, today in Ct. the weather was in the low 40's. Raining. Got into the low 50's. Felt like freaking March! So the fishing was a no go. Got into the woods a little further than the last trip.Found 78. Some real nice keepers and some the slugs must have really enjoyed. Soaking wet and tired. Mission accomplished.
Haha. I have plenty of bass photos rj! I keep those more secret!! I fish ice out until it ices again. Crack a lack city! Found 90 today. New York Elms were my friend. Long tough day. Had 10 until I had a hunch and made a last ditch effort. Saved my miserable butt!
Howdy All, newbie morel searcher here. I'm in central New Haven County and was wondering if there's any hope searching in this area? I put in some hours in Naugatuck State forest and Brooksvalle park in Hamden to no avail. The only fungus at all was turkey tails other than a very small clump of little brown mushrooms (pretty sure they're poisonous) at the base of a very dying ash tree. So should I keep up the effort here, move to other areas? Also, I read a lot about ash, elm, sycamore and apple trees, but I see very little about terrain - so should I look on hillsides, flats, along streams, etc...? Thanks!
Welcome to the forum Roamer. From what I have seen the morels I have been finding now are more Northerly. Today I was in NY. Columbia County. I found 90. All those places you mentioned are great places to look. As the season goes on you may want to look on North facing hills. For me in Ct. it's Ash, Elm, and Apple. Occasional Poplar. Good luck. The season is not over.
I’ve spent about 12 hrs in the woods in southern litchfield county . Looked at about 100 elms and found nothing. Is it too late? I thought I’d at least find something.
Went to an old apple orchard today , looked prime. Spent two hours looking, nothing not one. This was in central CT . Idk I will try a couple more times this week/weekend . This is the one mushroom I’ve never found . It’s driving me nuts , chasing ghosts. LOL
I'm heading for NH tomorrow. There is a late season spot in Ct. I will need to get to on my return. Hoping I don't miss it. Maybe next year rj I will hunt with you. I like to share. But if we go...you will be blindfolded until were in the prickers!
Back to being totally confused. Found 87 today. Not surprisingly half were giant long past yellows. I was surprised to find some small just popping grays! Found a few bigger beauties too.The season isn't over yet. If you look hard enough they are in this stupid state! Damn it was nasty in the woods today! Haha. Just gotta deal with it.
