I retired 4 years ago and bought this property. My wife is originally from Indiana so we know a bit about morels. We found one the first year,a couple the next, but last year I found around 200. I’m hoping for more this year. We also had a TON of Chantral mushrooms the first year but not many since. Found a lions mane last year also. I have access to another 500 acres my buddy has right down the road a bit from me but I’ll start on my property first and check my honey hole.
I too am retired. I love it. Do you find your morels in bottom land? Our place has some bottom land but a lot of it is thick cane. Hard to even walk through especially after Helene.

bottomland is the land around creeks and rivers the get flooded occasionally. I hunt mostly around Clark Hill Lake on the feeder creeks and rivers coming into the lake, "bottomland". My brother's land in Washington County has a small creek and a pond with lots of bottomland. I guess I need to get down there and hunt !
