Well, is sure is warming up and ground temps Bham south are warming to morel producing range; thing is, we will have to stay very mild to get them started by Feb 22 or Feb 26. I wont say it cant happen as I found my first Feb 25 in 2018 and JK found them a day or two earlier. Just be ready Bham and south to look last week of Feb. huntsville no worries yall can wait for March. Good luck to all

I think you may be right. Bradford pears and daffodils are blooming in Huntsville. The 10 day has very few sub 40 nights. Will post when my oak-leaf hydrangea has leaves (seems to be my best indicator of time so far).

I haven’t been to my spots to check yet. I’m guessing next weekend for the first find some where in the south east.

Five hours stomping around in the muck from the night's rain, in the low areas north of Atlanta today, Saturday, 2/16 - peeper frogs were singing like crazy around 4 p.m. and we saw a baby snapper turtle going for a stroll on dry land, so it's getting pretty warm, as far as the cold-blooded critters are concerned. The frogs chirping was a big surprise.

More signs of spring in HSV. Bradford pears all blooming, cherry trees starting to blossom, daffodils in the heart of their season, dandelions putting out flowers, saw some trilium and the smallest mayapple plant on Saturday morning.

JK I agree that southeast find is probably before Feb ends. I expect my patches to start March 1st-8th range. Happy Hunting to all

Someone on the AL facebook mushroom page just posted a photo of a clump of 3 morels they claim were picked TODAY, 02_19_19. I'm waiting for them to say what county it was.

He said on the post it was a long way from Birmingham, and he appears to do delivery for a seafood company, so I guess we don't really know much about the latitude.

Chonas, I just dont have time to track him. My guess is find may have been near Mtg or south of Mtg. My hunting partner found morels in Barbour county Al last year and that is 40 miles south of Auburn. Would be nice to know the county. My partner and I will be checking in Shelby co and Barbour county within the next few days. If we find anything will be sure to post.
