I have found that when I am up North a combination of Ash and Eastern Hemlock are a go to combination. I Do not know if it is that tree combination? It is usually in a very dark part of the woods. It may be that the conditions are best for those trees and Morels to grow? As always I have more questions than answers. I say we pool our money together and hire a Morel Whisperer. They have them for dogs and horses so why not for Morel hunters?

I assume you will not hoard the information. I went to I.U. so I am always skeptical of any thing that comes from West Lafayette. LOL

I'm going to exhaust schools in Indiana first. Next time I'm out I'm getting a leaf.

Dang golddust! I've never seen clusters of morels like that! You're almost at my latitude up here in NE Ohio. No finds yet, but we're about the last in the buckeye state because of the lake effect keeping things cool in the Spring. But, it's getting close, and later this week is looking ideal. I'm out the door. These posts give me so much hope, as does the weather. I've only been hunting 7 or 8 years, but this is as perfect a Spring I've seen yet.
