Morels are still small, leaving to grow. In meantime figured hit the ramp patch one more time. They are reaching the end. But on a positive note, did get some nice young golden oysters. Woods are coming along nicely.
Oh man am I happy, Got a small frying pan of tasty Morels. Monroe county. Found in wet semi open area at 61-62 degree 4" ground temp. Openish to southern sky. Other trees were 57-58 degrees 6-8" ground clutter, NOTHING. I had a friend follow me for over 40 yards. I run into them in the woods, but usually they try to drive me away from their nests. 14 Mushrooms. I'll take some to new friends, along with red and white stem pamps for teaching purposes.OK, I'm about done thinking of eating Morels and using other mushrooms as filler for my addiction. Tonight was shrimp, scallops, shiitake and garlic fettuccine in an afredo sauce. View attachment 46630

Say, Old Elm, I have been hearing the opinion that one should leave a couple morels behind and not pick them for whatever reason. What is your take on that?
Say, Old Elm, what kind of tree is that? It looks too deeply furrowed to be an elm.One tree mother lode, so much fun.
It’s an old Cotton wood that died last winter. I never find all the morels around a tree, so I go ahead & pick what I see. Good luck out there, hope you find a bunch.Say, Old Elm, what kind of tree is that? It looks too deeply furrowed to be an elm.

It's almost not fair when they are all bunched up . . . . Almost.
It's also not fair that you get slapped in the face a few times by buck thorn, impaled all over by prickly ash, and tripped up by wild grapevines walking a few football fields looking for these things all the while there's fifty of them just a few feet from where you parked the car!View attachment 47204
