Went for a good walk today. From 700’ up to 1600’ elevation. No sign of red buds, no sign of mayapples, no asparagus. Still way too early here in NW Arkansas

I’m in Marion County and redbuds are beginning to bloom here. Still no mayapples.

I bet your shrooms down in Arkansas are going to come up at the same time as the indicators. Be ready for an earlier season. Look for those dandy lions on the South facing slopes

What a difference a couple days makes. This morning I went out and saw some asparagus up in the garden. Red buds just starting to open. And now we have cooler weather coming in for the next few weeks, especially the night time lows. Still way better than excessive heat. Cool temps and plenty of rain should be setting us up for a bumper crop. Fingers crossed

I always liked asparagus as an indicator since it works on ground temps like morels. Fence row elms used to be great early season spots to hit on south facing fields. They are rarer than hens teeth now.

Went all over today and nothing, till I went back and found another in the spot from Wednesday. Probably was up the other day n didn't see it. Still early, getting real close though! Good luck out there!!!

Traskwood Moreler and I finally found some in Garland County today. 7 total 6 nice ones around a sycamore.

I hunt me some sycamores as well. Absolutely perfect timing on those morels. Find a nice old stand of perfectly healthy sycamores and you will absolutely almost every time find a good patch of morels.

This was the only sycamore in the patch of woods. Small spot off the side of the road.
