Three days ago we set a record with 80 degrees and today snow down to the valley floor! I'm at 500 ft. and here's my place! Snow Window Building Plant Tree

Well, at least I did get some shroom hunting in before all this mess; with the drought for the last three years, I was starting to get withdrawls! I did find some Blewits and some Boletes (Suillus luteus actually). The first Blewits were some of the most purple I've gotten. Also had some Armillaria mellea in the back yard! I'll be headed back out after the snow melts!

So I did find one :real" Bolete and some pretty big Jack-O-Lanterns too! I'll be posting more soon. Happy Shroomin'......

Well we got 14 days of rain in the forcast with 5 of those calling for snow, so that's not going to be good for mushrooms for a while! But I thought you all might like seeing this "Honey Forest" I stumbled across near the local college outside of Redding just about 3 weeks ago. A wind storm had blown down a bunch of oaks (probably due to the Armillaria mellea!) and while driving by it I spotted this huge outcropping of Honey mushrooms so I pulled over & took some photos. I realize these are not 'prized' mushrooms, but remember...we've had a drought and NO mushrooms for a few years so pardon me if I got a little over excited! The last photo shows a Honey that was almost 12" across! Enjoy and Happy Shroomin'.....

Well, we got a record 7 inches of rain in 12 hours about 10 days ago and 4 snows in one month here at 500 ft. elevation! But we've had several days of sunshine and we're looking at a week of rains starting tonight. The silver lining is we should finally have a decent shroom year! Here is this year's info on our Mushroom Festival up near Mt. Shasta for everyone's info. Being patient here in CA....Happy Shroomin'

Unfortunately, I got tinnitus that keeps me up sometimes and I been working on walking sticks and such for a Art Fair coming up in May and it got late fast! Oh well, it's Saturday night!....and I'd love to take you or any of the other members up there if ever out this way. It's beautiful at the foot of Mt. Shasta!
