Three days ago we set a record with 80 degrees and today snow down to the valley floor! I'm at 500 ft. and here's my place! Snow Window Building Plant Tree

Well, at least I did get some shroom hunting in before all this mess; with the drought for the last three years, I was starting to get withdrawls! I did find some Blewits and some Boletes (Suillus luteus actually). The first Blewits were some of the most purple I've gotten. Also had some Armillaria mellea in the back yard! I'll be headed back out after the snow melts!

So I did find one :real" Bolete and some pretty big Jack-O-Lanterns too! I'll be posting more soon. Happy Shroomin'......

Question for those of you that hunt natural, non-burn morels in elevations above 4,000 feet. Does this season seem WAY behind last year? I have been up hunting the past three weeks and am just now starting to see (non-morel) mushrooms, and I have only seen one early morel this year. Did all that extra snow y'all got this winter push things back for you? Additionally, is there a possibility that all the extra snow will somehow ruin the season?

Same experience here. I’ve been up the past couple weeks around 4,500 ft along the Stanislaus and haven’t seen many mushrooms at all. There’s still a few snowy patches in shaded area but it’s already 75-80 degrees during the day up at 4-5k elevation. Only a handful of snowplant in about 6 miles of walking around. Dogwood flowers are out.

Any other indicators that morels should be out? Or that they’re past?
