๐Ÿค  This Will Be My 57th Season of Hunting the Same Areas that My Dad first Carried Me into..when I was only 2 yrs old in 1965
I'm Not Studied up on all the New Sience that is Available in Our Age of Online..
I Just "Love the Hunt" and I Still Find Morels Almost every time I go, sometimes a few Sometimes a lot.. it is very Exciting to find a bunch like 50, 100 or 300..
But I believe we will all agree ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿป ๐Ÿ’ฏ
It's the "Love of the Hunt" and just being in the woods is Always Our Heart โค
๐Ÿค  I hope this year as we all find Our way on down the trail together on Here..
That we will make time to take some Pictures of Cool, interesting things we see along the Way,
Maybe like a beautiful sunrise as you begin your hunt in the morning.. then pics of Morels Growing...
and when you find yourself looking face to face with a perfect Example for a ๐ŸŒณ Tree Identification ๐ŸŒณ please take some pictures and share them with All of us...
๐ŸŒฒ and just as well if you find a Tree you are Not Sure of ..share some good pics of it and we can All help to identify what it is.๐ŸŒฒ
๐Ÿ„ Also when Our Morels are done, STAY IN THE WOODS..We will Continue finding Many Other types of Edible Fungi ๐Ÿ„ all Summer and Fall into Winter ....
Ok โค Thank You Everyone ๐Ÿ˜Š
Let's get on down thru the Woods together and check in here often as You Can..
See ya soon

Comparing this year's weather to last year's season, I'm expecting to make my first finds around the first week of April in Charlestown. Hopefully, a week or more earlier than last year. Then I'll head North to Morgan and Monroe County. Went to Charlestown state park today, trees are certainly blooming earlier but ground temps are still cold and the 10 day forecast won't get it there... here's two pics marking the beginning and ending of the season in Charlestown 2022

Hope everybody is okay after last nights storms...

Stopped by yesterday for a quick peek at my early spots in Clark County on my way home from Tennessee. Found my first March Grey in Clark. This spot normally produces 20+ small greys all at once but didn't see anything else. I'll probably go back out tomorrow after these winds die down for a closer look.

My prediction is greys/yellows will start regularly next weekend from southern Indiana to Marion County

Note- I couldn't find a black morel if my life depended on it.

Happy Easter fellow shroomers!!!!

Clark County Update- Very hit or miss. Found 2 decent size yellows yesterday and a few small ones in an hour. Today walked for 2 hours with only seeing a few baby yellows. Headed to my "never failed me in 3 years cedar tree patch" and picked 20 to eat in 15 minutes. My mom, 7yo neice and me all found a handful there. The temps over the next 7 days looks on the warm side and dry, if only there was chances for rain.

Be ready next Saturday...

Non Venemous. Looks like a gray rat snake or eastern milk snake

Found this black ratsnake yesterday in Marion County along with a small yellow and peckerhead at Fort Harrison State Park

Took my reluctant to go nephew out to Harrison-Crawford this evening. Stumbled upon a little patch of tulip morels. Few yellows. There was alot of big yellow stumps that had been cut. Happy shroomin

Not sure if I missed the yellows yet here in southern indiana or just need a good rain but the tulips are holding my craving over for now. I'm hoping to go hunting with family this Sunday in Morgan County around Paragon. Come on rain! Happy hunting!!! Found 100+ in Crawford County in one small area...

Thought I still had a few days to go on a couple of Marion County trees. Unfortunately, about a week late... here's one of 3 trees all looked the same.
