Yep all kinds of Creatures, Fun and Fungi
Out there, We will Gently☯ Peacefully☮ and ❤ Lovingly ❤ Join in with them for the Beautiful Awesome and Amazing Event of Spring. 🌞✨🌦⛄☔🇺🇲💫🌎🌷🍄🌱
And as we Enjoy Every Moment, We are also gonna be finding Our Morels 🍄🌦🍄🍄🍄🍄🌦🍄🍄🍄🍄🌦🍄🍄🍄🍄
🤠 This Will Be My 57th Season of Hunting the Same Areas that My Dad first Carried Me into..when I was only 2 yrs old in 1965
I'm Not Studied up on all the New Sience that is Available in Our Age of Online..
I Just "Love the Hunt" and I Still Find Morels Almost every time I go, sometimes a few Sometimes a lot.. it is very Exciting to find a bunch like 50, 100 or 300..
But I believe we will all agree 👍🏻 💯
It's the "Love of the Hunt" and just being in the woods is Always Our Heart ❤
🤠 I hope this year as we all find Our way on down the trail together on Here..
That we will make time to take some Pictures of Cool, interesting things we see along the Way,
Maybe like a beautiful sunrise as you begin your hunt in the morning.. then pics of Morels Growing...
and when you find yourself looking face to face with a perfect Example for a 🌳 Tree Identification 🌳 please take some pictures and share them with All of us...
🌲 and just as well if you find a Tree you are Not Sure of ..share some good pics of it and we can All help to identify what it is.🌲
🍄 Also when Our Morels are done, STAY IN THE WOODS..We will Continue finding Many Other types of Edible Fungi 🍄 all Summer and Fall into Winter ....

I soaked some of these dehydrated Morels in some good drinking water, they soften up in Only bout 8 minutes, View attachment 47173

Next I add a little more water and get it hot in the microwave, then pour that water in on my scoops of coffee and let it steep, View attachment 47175
while it steeps, im warming those Morels in a skillet with butter for bout 4 minutes View attachment 47176
Now I'm pouring in 4 eggs, will put lid on skillet to help cook eggs quickly about 5 minutes View attachment 47178
When the eggs are done I take it all right onto a plate, and My coffee is done so I pour it in cup View attachment 47180
The eggs with Morels Tastes so Delicious.
I usually eat really fast..but I slowed it down cause the more I chew these Morels..Man...
the more and more and more stronger their Flavor is,
all gone now it was so so Goood..
Still sit'n here drinking Morel Coffee ☕ 😋

Oh man, what a breakfast! Good thing I don't live anywhere near you, I'd be knocking on your door in the morning!

EDIT: Took a screenshot of that omelet so I remember to make one when I find the motherlode this year! :)

I have one of those old houses with poor ventilation - you know, the kind where when you cook something you still smell it days later. Well, I just walked up from my basement into the kitchen and I can STILL smell the tiny, solitary morel I fried in butter last weekend. :) Looking forward to getting out this weekend!

PS - Can I be an honorary Indiana morel hunter? The Idaho forum is WAY too quiet.

Another question for you pros, do any spices pair well with morels? A dash of something to make them EXTRA delicious? Just curious what y'all may add to them, if anything.

Additionally, anyone ever tried vacuum-sealing and freezing fresh morels? Would this work better than drying and then rehydrating them?

For Me and My Family it's always be..
🍄 just warmed up in Butter
🍄🍄 or water soaked, then straight into flour and a little salt and pepper as you warm um Up with butter in skillet
🍄🍄🍄 Or dip um in a thin eggs and milk batter, then straight to the flour. Then lite salt and pepper while warming in butter in a skillet

@emarler I mix it up almost every time. Plain flour, sometimes onion or garlic powder in flour. sometimes just all natural. Always butter.

If i have time, freezing is my preferred method. Dredge in flour and flash freeze on a cookie sheet. Zipolc them with some air so they don't get beat to death. Always fry bits and pieces for quick soup. Enjoy!

Took a half day yesterday and went to the farm pond crappie and bass are biting. Walked in the woods for about a hour found these
