Didn't know if I could get on this year. They want me to go through Facebook. So if it happens. It was wonderful knowing you all. And I wish you the best 🙏. Buckthornman.

Greetings fellow foragers. This season is going to be a bumper. I heard asparagus is popping on the southern edge of our state. Best of luck to all. Here is a cool pic from last year.

It’s nice to see them finally coming up, i only found the two in a 2 mile hike. I know guys finding them as far north as red wing, just small ones in small numbers. Mid week will be better, the weekend should hopefully have some clusters!!

Hello Hello all!!!! Looking through your posts, I don't faceplant either! If it ever comes to that happy trails. Just crawling slowly out of winter here in WC MN. Looking forward to seeing some fungi soon!
Seems like we got a parallel universe going, any way we can merge the two 23’ posts admin?

I'm thinking the other is more "Morels" So once morels go away this will be the "2023 Summer Shroom" kinda thread maybe?

Ohh? My morels suck, but i am pretty fortunate with the mid summer shrooms. I think it was titled " MN summer edibles ".

Oh boy! Looking promising after this rain! In central MN. But I've got a side question has anyone ever had luck finding morels under elms with pheasant backs just to grow on them (1st year of pheasant back growth)? I usually would say those elms are past prime for morels but just seeing if anyone has different thoughts?
I was hunting in N/W Minnesota May 5-7 at my honey hole. No mushrooms yet, but I managed to get a lot of ticks and a bad case of poison ivy. Heads up.
Found about 20 on some private last night and then got skunked on a public chunk I’ve never walked before. Most of the ones we found probably have until the mid weekend before they aren’t worth picking. I don’t think the “big pop” has matured yet. To Dtails post: I would agree. Still find mushrooms next to those trees here and there but if I’m hunting clusters when they are out I’m not spending a ton of time at a tree that I might find only 1-5. Just my theories from what I’ve seen, definitely doesn’t mean I’m right. I tend to always just check every tree because of stubbornness but my confidence is much lower if there isn’t any bark yet on the tree or if I see a bunch of pheasant backs growing. Should probably still take a look see!

I personally have never had luck with pheasant back present.
