Nice pulls! Man I’m jealous!

11 days ago I went to the big creek scenic area, part of Sam Houston nat. forest and had no luck. Did find an elm oyster and some polypore type but no morels. Seems a bit too far south of their range but figured it was worth a try.

Have there been confirmed finds in San Houston forests? I understand the chants are common there so will have to try for those when the season comes with my snake boots on!

I doubt you will find morels there. To many pine trees. For sure a good place to find chanterelles.

From one of my spots near Lake Whitney this morning. I checked this same spot 6 days ago and there was nothing. These youngens got frostbit last night.

The season is still early, even in Central Texas. Some of my reliable spots are not up yet as far south as Waco. Don't fret if you haven't found anything yet! We are still a week, maybe two away from peak, as long as temps stay moderate and we get some moisture.

Some steady picking over the last week but still mostly youngsters and haven’t found a mature yellow yet. N central TX. The cold shocked a bunch I’d been leaving to grow. Hopeful the peak is still to come

Had a great day yesterday in the Red River Valley. Even snuck into an Oklahoma spot too but it wasn't quite that time as most of the redbuds were just going but man it was a beautiful day. Hopefully wind doesn't dry things out too much and we have a nice slow prolonged season. I checked a hill country spot in Central Texas spot on Saturday was bone dry and I am not going back this season not worth the driving. Nice to see Lake Whitney area squeeze out a few!
