Golden Oysters! Great find! This is a cultivated mushroom that broke free from a grow farm and has done well for itself in the wild, spreading across the midwest. They’re fragile, but delicious.

You quoted him lol..... Those are NOT golden oyster as the poster above me says. 1 more day of work then another 4day weekend. It's been great so far, hoping for a banner season here. Mostly south slopes so far but hoping for a great next few days. Had to take today to rest, as my knee is just not cooperating with me. On the other hand, I have had only 1 tick, the permetherin spray has been doing a great job. before I started using it, it wasn't uncommon for me to pick over 50 off per day of morel hunting. I can't recommend it enough. 2 of my closest friends have Lyme disease and it is no joke.Yep. Aspen Oyster.
It really is a lovely little chemical! Went to it last year and the difference is unreal! If I could keep from putting holes in my pants I probably wouldn’t have any ticks. I wholesale agree, as a person who has had ticks cut out of intimate places on my body and witnessing the hell lymes can cause, if you’re spending chunks of time in the woods permethrin is the ticket! You quoted him lol..... It just means southern slopes with the trees you're looking for. They are in the interiors right now too. Just look for the dying elms, no matter the terrain.Okay, so help a girl out...
When y'all are saying "exposed southern slopes" do you mean open spaces without trees? Or is there a magical tree on these slopes? I just need 6 morels for this pasta dish 😂
Echoing what @stilz said, and also adding that when I say “exposed slope” I mean a slope with sparse tree cover. Less tree cover means more sun exposure which means less shade which means warmer soil temps which means faster growing morels!Okay, so help a girl out...

It's all good.. They smelled like anise, so they definitely were aspens.Oh sorry Wendelina! The pics look like they are yellowish, and if so then goldens. If they’re tan, then surely aspens. Good luck out there.
Man that looks good 👍Picked a few morels and made lunch. Steak morels fried on ramp butter and some parmesan cheese crusted asparagus! View attachment 47236 View attachment 47237
