🤠🍄‍🟫 I Really Enjoy Maps
I just had 2 maps of the Panama Canal framed. My dad would go there in the 70's with the civil engineering wing of the Air Force and work on canal maintenance. Found the military maps he had of it rolled up in a closet. Can't believe we gave it away after building it. Don't get me started. Maps are really cool.

How is it going your way Wade? Looks a lot wetter than my area. Storms tonight are helping but its hit and miss. We are on the cusp and moisture is a must. To become a good morel hunter it takes practice, patience, and a lot of effort. Learn your trees. You should not need leaves to tell a walnut from an elm, or a cottonwood from an oak. I don't hunt Indiana but some trees are just better than others in my opinion. But if you find some on one type of tree make sure you check any others you see in the area. In Missouri its dead elm, cottonwood, sycamore, ash if you can find live ones, and soft maple for the most part. If someone you know finds morels a lot and they are willing to take you make sure you pay attention when you find some. Rinse and repeat. Dry is the enemy. So if its dry stick to the places water ran to. They won't fruit in dust. A dead elm is good for 1-4 years usually. Each one is different. If the bark is completely gone almost its no good usually. Morels can grow anywhere but by narrowing your odds and looking in the most likely spots you can save yourself a lot of frustration. Just make sure to enjoy your time in the timber. A day hunting might bring a sighting of turkey, deer, bobcats, coyotes, non poisonous snakes, birds of prey and other cool stuff you don't see sitting at home. Plus you get some free exercise. I am 66 and don't need any meds yet and I chalk it all up to morel hunting. I hike all year to explore new spots and keep my legs in shape for the season. Make sure to permethrin your clothing and boots to prevent tick bites. Hope you folks in Indiana have a great year and thanks to all the moderators who have kept this site clean and on going. If you are passing through Mo in April you are welcome to pick my morels. Lol. I will find others.

KB I come to mo.and hunt a park around columbia mo every year the past 3 years and do pretty good there plan on being there easter weekend hoping my timings good lol
Easter should be good. Make sure and hit some river bottom conservation areas while you are there. Those cottonwoods can fill boxes real fast if you can find some dead ones or tipped ones. Even live ones with dead in them.
