I’ve never hunted outside my area but just got access to some really promising woods around Stanford/ Danville, but I’m not sure what to look for in that area.
It looks like good diverse woods, and I’ve found plenty of the usual host trees there.
I was told to find the early blacks on poplar, which sounded great, then I was promptly told to look for roses and was told “if you find roses near a poplar then you’ll find morels”.
I have no idea if that’s true, I’ve never heard of morels on roses but there’s lots of things I’ve never heard, I’m certainly no expert!
Anyway if anyone has advice for that area, I’m all ears!
I have been hunting for years, but I’m 100% self taught, I do know the basics, but I have a lot to learn, so if you have anything to share then that would great!

happy huntin folks !
