Any Advice for a Beginner?

Hi, I'm new to morel hunting and was wondering if anyone on here could give me a little advice on where to look and what to look for? I keep hearing I should look for dead elms, but where am I supposed to find those? Didn't Dutch Elm Disease kill them all off decades ago? I'm in the New Haven area if that is of any help.
