Thoughts on timing for metro Bham. Found 3 fresh greys today at a faithful spot. They were 1.5” caps. Good sign we have some legs left to the season. With the moderate temperatures forecast and the great moisture we have Im guessing we have 10-15 days left for fruiting. But as stated, that is my guess, the morels don't always follow my guesses..

Even though some of those look on the rougher side In my opinion those are at the best stage to eat because they have released their spores fully and are actually partially dried to enhance flavor. You should consider yourself lucky that you hit the timing just right but next year probably hit it about 5 days earlier. Good job👍

Yea I did go 7 days before these finds - nothing. Been hunting this spot for many yrs~ when I dream them I find them ~ guess they let me know 🤷‍♀️

Latest thoughts on metro Bham timing. If we have a moderate or even a really good flush it will likely be in the March 22-30 range. There are some out and a few here and there may be fruiting the next few days. I couldn’t tell you if this year will be a 2,5 or 9, or anything in between. I just have a strong sense based on where we are, history and the forecast that any throw down would be those last 7-8 days of the month here around Bham…

Found a pair yesterday (3/17) that were fused together at the stem. At 72 found so far appx. 2-2.25 lbs

Found 2 today (thurs). 1.6” cap and a 2.2” cap… they look to have been up just 2-4 days. Thoughts same on bham metro.. need these fri-mon rains w nice temps to get the party going or there isnt going to be a party. Im in wait & see mode. Checking everything Sunday & again Tues (3/28)

Yes wade, a slight east facing slope
