Has anyone ever picked burn areas in ny or is that just a west coast thing. I have a buddy in Alaska and they are picking thousands right now in burn areas.
I've heard conflicting things. IIRC, West Coast burnsite morels are a different species than we have in the East, though they physically resemble M. angusticeps. But, I have also read reports of people finding good amounts in East Coast burn sites.
I plan to check a local site that burned recently next spring, and of course I'll report here.
i know burns work in the midwest where i live. Its all about raising the soil ph.,not so much where it happens. the western parts of the U.S. just get dryer so more forest fires. Had some friends that went to Alaska last year to pick burns, and Montana this year.
