Howdy, I'm a Midwest transplant in Fort Collins. Struck out the second year in a row looking for yellows around here. Did find some false morels this weekend around 8000' in the Medicine Bow.

I'm focusing my attention on burn morels. I've seen pictures in the facebook page coming from around Steamboat. Does anyone know conditions of the fire areas around there? I might drive up to Big Red Fire this weekend. Happy hunting.

good luck at big red, its 7 miles in-- the gates are still closed. :( so pissed. got up there today from front range to find two locked gates. deep creek fire is still locked out as well. they said likely july given the calving going on right now. i don't know which burn this gent is in, maybe he made the hump in.

Little birdy told me they just popped at 8500-9000 northern front range area on wed. These were lodgepole and white bark blacks.

Any chance they will still be up this late? I will be around the Grand Mesa National Forest the next few days. I see there are a handful of burn sites north of there. I found an article from June 23 claiming they found some at the Gutzler fire site.
