Found about 30-35 blacks this past Sat. and Sun. Sliced them in half, sauteed in butter with garlic, salt and pepper. A very tasty treat. Hoping to find more this weekend.

I was out in Lewis county yesterday to a spot where I had found between 25 and 75 in years past and nothing. Ground temps good need a little more moisture hopefully rain last night will help.
Finding blacks in Marion Co. WV mostly around elms near top of hills
Found 50 blacks this morning, had limited time to hunt. probably would have found more but a good find at that. Up high on a southeast facing slope in a poplar stand. Berkely County.
found 25 big blacks and 4 small greys..Northern Kanawha Co..marked several greys and yellows too small to pick. gonna give em 5-6 days, hopefully normal temps and more needed rain. next weekend should be a good one around here...northeastern face, flat below ridge, elms, ash, poplar.
Anybody finding anything in Shelby county?
Hello Amanita, didn't realize that you started this thread, long time no see or talk. we told you where we're finding them now just tell where are you finding them?
i find 70-75 on a bad day...100+ on a good day...boone county , wv....thats as close as i will let you get...ty..mbb van,wv
@wickieRoy, I've been finding the drainage ditch blacks but these night temps have been screwy plus the humidity has been considerably less than in previous years, only time it's gotten humid is right before a big cold front sweeps thru and freezes it. I except my Sycamores to b firing once some leaf emergence develops on them but other than that, I'm finding between 3 to about 20 per time under poplars n cherries, all black besides that random cluster of whites about a week ago.
found 25 blacks all under poplars this morning whlile turkey hunting. found a lot of dried up ones too. got 16 greys all under on big old cherry tree after work on monday morning, they actually had frost on them. Conditions still havn't been right. gotta string a couple of good days together.
Found 32 very nice, fresh blacks in Mon county in the rain on Wednesday afternoon, was well worth the soaking!
The pigs are firing. Went to my sycamore n Harrison co right before dark last night and found 30 pigs all larger than coke cans. Be back there this evening. Goin to be a blast the upcoming 2 weeks or so.. Plus dug a pot full of ramps n caught a mess of trout. Good eating this week for sure!!!
Found 21 yellows in Tyler county yesterday. 4 in Harrison county wed. Hoping rain helped get more up later this week.
boone co, wv...i have found 560 moochies so far this year...i love em!
. Found quite a bit yesterday in Preston County, actually lost count because we left soooooo many of them. I have never found a spot like that . . . every where we stepped we were finding them. All were about the size of my pinkie nail and I'm a petite lady. Most were grays but a few blondes were poking their head's too. We managed to pick enough for tonights dinner -- a grand slam actually of some blacks, grays, and fewer blondes. Need the rain. Without the rain . . . well, I hate to think about it!
In Fayette County, PA today. Checked a new spot . . . same situation as above. Some keepers but mostly babies needing the rain.
Best of luck to everyone!!
Hunted on the borders of Pendleton/Hardy Counties yesterday, but should have done a better job checking last week's weather. It was extremely dry, so I didn't find anything. So disappointing! Has anyone else found anything near here recently? Rain this week, so I hoping...
