Ground temps as low as 47 but preferably 50 degrees will get them going. Here is a decent map I use along with the one on the home page of this site.

Hello new to message board. I typically hunt in ohio. My brother has recently moved to Berea. Is the mushrooms good in this area?

I live in northwest ohio we do pretty well around here. We do alot better in northwest michigan. Hoping Berea will produce. Thinking about headed there next weekend. So ready to find some shrooms and put winter behind us!!

I hear the shroom's are plentiful in Mammoth Cave National Park, KY. The rangers will give out one free bag per person. I live close by there, so I'm heading up in there the first weekend in April. After this rain & warm weather. Hope I have some good news.

I checked a few of my early spots today in Jefferson county following the 50-55 degree rain. Thought I might find a few baby blacks. Nothing and the woods show very little sign of awakening. I have found blacks in these spots as early as 3/16.
