I was just wondering, if anyone has had any success as of this late date? I was trying to get out this past weekend, but with all the graduation celebrations & ceremonies, I never found the time. Looking back at my calendar logs from previous years, there were dates later than this in May of 2009, 2005, 2002 and 1999. I figured 15 years back was far enough to look, as anytime before that is probably ancient history to most everyone on these boards. There was a time when very few people took part in this annual spring ritual, but with the proliferation of the internet, the woods have been overrun with folks searching for the elusive morel. Any replies would be welcomed! Otherwise....,
Enjoy the days & months ahead. I will be counting the moons till our next season!

tutanka, I'm down here in NW. MO. You are thinking the same as me. A real good late year. Sounds like your picking goes back a ways like mine. I don't know your spots, but I had a great day in the Iowa hills across from the Rez. The tribes have done a great job of keeping the timber alive on the Neb. side.. I used to hunt those hills many years ago before anyone cared who picked what.

tutanka. back to the late season. It was the same in N.Mo. If you check the thread me and some other old timers were looking at the calendar and shaking our heads. I would think there has to be some monster greys on some deep north slopes in those big hills. I plan on riding north this weekend to pick some more some where in Iowa, Nebraska, or parts north. The 80's this week will bring the end to another season all to soon. Wish I could still get into those hills. Over farming has destroyed way to much of the other areas. So many places I hunted as a kid are gone.

Well I found this guy while I was out yesterday[5/20/2014]…

This big bertha weighed in at 8.2 ounces making it over a half-pounder. Biggest one I have found this year for sure. I found quite a few others yesterday but many of them were starting to dry out. It was really hot out and everything I was finding I was having to dig around through thick ivy for. I called it quits after about 45mins but I still found about 1.5Lbs. Season is definitely drawing to an end though.
