It is true that morel spores are quite abundant but places that grow them can be quite rare. The fruiting bodies are literally designed to be found and eaten. Any mushrooms that look like they have gone past their prime don't really need to be messed with by humans. Letting nature do its thing is almost always the best bet.

That's half the enjoyment of leaving things behind for me just knowing that it may be the first time someone finds a trace of morels and begins their journey. Most of my best spots began with finding cut stalks from the previous hunter. Let's just say I haven't found any cut stalks in a while. Timing is everything the early bird will get the worm😎

Yes! I completely agree!! For many years, I've told friends and beginners that the main key to success for shrooming is to GET THERE FIRST🌅🤗
