Looking forward to great year in 2023. 2022 was poor here in Giles. At least the rainy summer gave us a lot of chickens.

Saw the serviceberry were beginning to bloom yesterday, so set out to see what else was happening, here in the Blue Ridge Plateau (Carroll County, elev 2250'). Found four sticking out from under the leaves. Here's the first spotted.

SPOILER ALERT
I consider myself to be an avid morel hunter, but for the life of my I can’t spot the fourth mushroom in the above picture. There are two in the lower right and one top center. Answer????

Sorry to make you toil! I found a 4th small one a foot or two left of those 3 after I took the picture, and I couldn't find it myself IN the picture... Sooo I played it safe and said 3-4, thinking maybe I just couldn't find it in the picture and someone else may.

I think you win, haha. But at least you got your eyes going!

I think this MAY have been it, it was a small guy, but I can't tell for sure with the picture. The camera didn't focus much on that side apparently. Haha, I'm going to let you all be the judge.

Found about a dozen here in Giles county last night. This rain should really bring them out.

Let the fun begin!

Hoping this cold spell doesn't counter all this rain we just got. Anyone think it will? Or do we think the ground temps will stay steady enough?

Got so warm last week but started to get dry with the heat, we needed this rain but no the freezing temps, heh.

I hope this community grows. I'm in Radford VA ... had an unfruitful hunt along the New River. Hopefully rain next few days pops shrooms every where. I saw no fungi of anykind... seem very dry in most all places.

Ooooo that's what it looks like, Delicious
Wow! Absolutely beautiful food. I found... ID'd... and ate my FIRST wild mushroom! I've been a foodie & amateur Chef, kraut, kefir, pickles, cheese, wine.... etc... maker for many years now. Been blessed to have had food prepared by some of THE best Chefs in the world... never have I has anything as pure, nutritious & delicious as Pheasant Backs. Can't wait for the orgasmic delight of our 1st morel!
