My cousins harvest near Lake Wappepello.
Near Lake Wappepello.
I was worried about the cold snap. Left a lot of small ones out there. Did cover them up with leaves. I'll check on them later in the week. Hopefully all is good and there 3 feet tall.
I gave your post a “like” because I want to believe it’s true!
Hey Wiz, Nice haul of morels there. What type of tree\ habitat were those picked on? I live in the NW corner of the state. I just wondered what the heck they grow on down there.
At 3 ft. you better get out the chain saw shroom picker.
Handsaw. Chainsaw would draw to much attention.
That was from today
I use the same stuff and recommend it to everyone. It is the best protection.
Pretty heavy frost in the hills of Jefferson County this morning. I had to scrape my windshield.
Been looking around Jackson and clay county, still have yet to find any good specimen. Gonna spend every evening this weeks looking. Wish i had the mornings off because that seems to be the best time.
well this isnt a morel but it's the next best thing!!!
Oh well, say there nicely done there young fellow. May your good luck & fortune carry on into morel picking.
After scraping the heavy frost off my windshield this morning, I feared the worst.
I almost didn’t tread out into the woods. This afternoon, though, showed me dozens and dozens of miniscule grays popping out. I clandestinely marked them and hope to retrieve them in a day or two once they’ve gained some girth. They all were about half the size of a finger and seemed very healthy.
That being said, I’ve lost morels with this method before. We’ll see, but my biggest fear was stomping all the ones I COULDN’T see yet.
Found another batch today, they were only around silver maples. We dipped em pancake batter then fried , they were so good. Still no luck around the poplar tree's.
They look to be in great shape, nice haul.
Been looking since last Mon. in Clay and Platte cos. and found plenty of ticks. May Apples are barely up. Getting a bit dry.
where are you located Nico? I like to hunt the maples up here on our northern rivers, some years they can really do well.
