SB- Have you tried the method described by Paul Stamets in his book 'Growing Gourmet And Medicinal Mushrooms'?
In the book, he advocates inoculating a burn site or creating one using:
10 gallons peat moss
5 gallons wood ash
1 gallon of gypsum
