South Dakota Magazine - September/October 2017 edition has a nice photo of sulfur shelf aka chicken mushrooms. Quoted as being found along the Big Sioux River near Flandreau from August into early October. That not-so-secret spot is over 400 miles east of me so I post it here for others to go harvest. We have not found these in the Black Hills.

Low elevations on oak Black Hills. First one I have found.

Wow Alan, I continued to be impressed with your finds! Now we have to go in search of another fall edible in the Black Hills!

That is a nice one! I found 4 in August, but the couple i have found in the last 2 weeks are dried up or edges mushy. I havn't found one yet but have seen pictures from friends wondering of the Laetiporus sulphureus. It's the bracket one that grows on the tree. thanks for sharing.
