Is it possible that I found a nice sized one in my Sebastopol, Sonoma County, backyard? I grew up on morels back in Ohio and I immediately identified it. I just didn't realize that they grew out here, in a backyard no less. It was next to a wooden fence, growing in a pile of old leaves and redwood droppings. ???

Congratulations jasi57 ~ in the last ten years I have only found 2 that didn't look right. California isn't subpose to have any "bad" morels, but just on the safe side we didn't pick them. Isn't it exciting to find them in your yard? We spent three hours hunting for them up country and they were growing in our yard....
