Hey everyone! We just switched to Xenforo and things are a bit different so I wrote this guide to help you all out.



Change is difficult, but if you give it a chance I know you're going to like it!


Please read or search this thread and I promise you will learn it in no time.

Posting a New Thread


Posting a new thread is easy. Just go into the forum your question or statement best fits into and click the Post New Thread Button.

It will take you to a screen that look like this,

Fill out the Text Boxes and then click Create Thread.


You have just created a thread with Xenforo!

Replying to a Thread (Posting)


To post go into the thread you want to read and reply to it. First fill out the Post Response Box. Towards the bottom of the Thread is a button called Post Reply. Click that button once you've completed your response.

Uploading an Image from the Internet


To upload an image from the net, locate the Mountain Icon at the top of the post Reply Box and click it.

Copy and Paste the URL of the image in the Pop Up Box.

Click Insert and it will place the image wherever you have placed your cursor.

Uploading an Image from your CPU


To Upload an Image from your Computer, locate the Upload a File Button.

Click that button and it will prompt you with a Pop Up.


Select a File then click Open. It will then Upload your Image.

Placing an Image


To Place and Image in your Post, first follow the Upload an Image Instructions found in the above Post.


After having Uploaded and Image you will be presented with the Option to Place your Image as either a Thumbnail or Full Image.

Place your Cursor where you would like the image to be placed. Then click the Thumbnail or Full Image Button.

Posting a YouTube Video


To Post a YouTube Video locate the Media Button in your Post Tools.

Place your Cursor where you would like your video to appear. Then click that button. You will be presented with a Pop Up presenting you with an option for a URL.

Then click Embed and you will have embedded your video where you placed your cursor. If you are done with you post follow the Post Reply Instructions.

Quoting a Single Post


To Quote a Single Post click the Reply button locate next to the Post Number.

It will then insert the quote into your Post Response Box. Then write your response under the Quote. If you've completed your post, follow the Posting Instructions.

Quoting Multiple Posts

To Quote Multiple Post locate the +Quote Button on each post you want to quote and click them.

Then locate the Insert Quote button located on the bottom left of the quote Response Box.

Click the button and it will insert the quoted text into your Post Reply Box.

Searching

To search for content, locate the Search Box.

Click the word search top open the search box. Type the name of the Thread you’re looking for and hit enter. You will be presented with a list of content that meets your search criteria.

Advanced Search

To use Advanced Search, Click the Search Box.

You can then Search by Titles Only, Posted by Member, Search this Thread Only, Search This Forum Only, and Display Results as Threads. Enter the content you would like to search for in the Search Box then click the Search Button to complete your search.

You can also click the More Button to search with varying Search Options.

Clicking that button will take you to a page that looks like this.

It will present you with options to Search Everything, Search Threads and Posts, Search Profile Posts, and Search Tags.

Liking a Post

To like a Post, locate the Like button on the post you have decided to like and click it.

Reporting a Post to the Mods and Admins


If you feel a post has broken one of the rules or there is something that should be brought to the attention of the Moderators and Administrators, click the Report Button.

You will then be presented with a box that will allow you to enter a reason for the Report.

Type in a reason you want to bring this issue to the attention of the Staff Members then click Report Post. It will issue a report to the Moderators and Administrators so they can take action on the post you reported if applicable.

Accessing Your Profile

To access your profile, click your username located towards the top right of the page.

It will present you with a drop down menu. You then click your name.

It will then take you to your public profile page.

Profile Options

To access your account options, click your username located on the top right of the page. It will provide you with options to change your Personal Details, Contact Details, Privacy, Preferences, Alert Preferences, Avatar, Password, Your News Feed, Conversations (Private Messages), Alerts, Likes You’ve Received, Your Content, People You Follow, People you Ignore, Two-Step Verification, and your Log Out button.

Alerts

Alerts are a unique feature for Xenforo that will let you know if someone has quoted you, replied to a thread, posted to a thread you’ve posted to, or started. Simply look towards the top right for the bell icon next to your conversations box icon.

Privacy

Privacy is important and with Xenforo it’s never been easier. First go to your profile options. Then locate the privacy options located about halfway down.

Clicking this option will take you to the Privacy Page. This will allow you to change a number of Privacy Options. Privacy is important so we implore you to review your privacy settings.

Avatars


Avatars are a fun way to personalize your profile. Small images that are placed next to your profile, to add an avatar first go to your Personal Details Page. Next click the avatar button. From there you will be presented with an option to upload your avatar called the Avatar Editor.

Upload your Avatar and clock Okay. You’ve just added an Avatar!

Watching a Thread

Watching a thread is an easy way of keeping up with a thread on Xenforo. This will provide you with notifications for the thread you have chosen to follow. To do so go into the thread you would like to watch. Towards the top right of the thread is a button called Watch Thread.

Click that button and it will automatically subscribe you to that thread.

Signatures

Signatures are the same on Xenforo as they were on vBulletin. To edit your signature, hover on your username located at the top right of the page. Click Signature. This will take you to a box where you can write out your signature.
