Hello, I live in the West Texas/El Paso area and I'm wondering if morels are found here and where they would be found. I'm guessing that the most likely place would be along the river bottom on the Rio Grande.
This year I 'inoculated' a prepared area around a tree that had mushrooms the last couple years. I wasn't able to identify those mushrooms. At any rate I was wondering if anyone here in El Paso or West Texas has had success in finding morels in this area. If so, let me know what habitat you found them in.
If anyone is interested, I will post my progress in cultivating these tasty gems.

Your best bet is to look around cedar groves near water. That area has a lot of lime based rock so they will need the acidity of the cedars.
