This is supposed to be a much busier time but I am not finding much at all. Every once in a couple miles I am stumbling across a lobster or a rotten patch of chants. Last year I was swimming in kings, and bi colors, hedge hogs, chickens and trumpets. Hoping things pick up soon I am going to go out again tomorrow and see what I can find. At least the bugs are finally dieing down.

some is better than none. could use a good all day soaking rain. storm waters are running off too fast. gets discouraging spending this amount of time finding just a few. but have a good collection of dry stores so far and plenty of season left. Good Luck to ALL!

Lynk, I look at it differently. I don't go into the woods to seek mushrooms, I seek mushrooms to get me into the woods. That's what I mean by " enjoy the hunt". To paraphrase Thoreau " Many men go fishing their entire lives without knowing it is not fish they are after." Enjoy the hunt.

jcumo, It used to be the same for me but worse as my doesn't like mushrooms. We are older now and the kids are gone, a lot of the pressure is off. These days the wife encourages me to go for my walks. I am not sure if she decided it is vital to retain my sanity or hers.

Geo and Jcumo, both absolutely right.Geo,being in the woods is what got me interested to begin with, but i spend a lot of extra time there when i've got a heavy workload(both job and home) just for shrooms.Jcumo, true that! I've got my wife going with sometimes and loves it when she finds something but gets bored otherwise, so most trips solo(the way i prefer), but she understands my enthusiasm. Thanks guys! Enjoy the hunt! And the game!

I don't have to worry about the wife, because I am the wife LOL I have the problem of not feeling safe alone in the woods but I refuse to let that stop me. I bring my dog ,my knife and my mace. I could Not live without my woods time.Must be my native American blood :)
