Don't look, but it's almost February!

Good precips, but literally no snow or ground freeze this year in most of WV. Temps have been unseasonably warm and we've had less than 5 inches of snow. If that. Lots of rain though.

Hopefully its doesnt create a weird year.

Bunch of my buddies are already boiling down their sap so it won't be long til we're wandering in the woods.

Nice. I work in the woods 3/4 of the time, but still don’t find many. Have you been finding them on the ridges, or the hollers?

I usual hunt the north eastern face about The last flats from the ridge. That’s what seem to work for me, searching upward

Good to hear from you guys! I'm in Harrison Co. I have found about 25-30 good size blacks so far. Been finding more blacks on my properties than I've ever found. Hoping to get out in the next day or two to check on the greys. At least all this quarantine and covid stuff is happening during the best time of the year.

i go by foliage more than temps, when the oak leaves start coming on I know its time. Ground temps should be above 50 degrees with a average weekly temp of 50 degrees or above to make them flush. I just wait until the trees are about 50% green lol.

Found 140 today in my favorite spot. Mostly small to medium yellows and greys. An awesome day. A bit cold, but it was worth it. Morels and rabbit for dinner tonight. Good luck to all. Keep searching friends. They’re out there somewhere image.jpg

This is the week my friend, I wish I could be off to hunt them. I hope you find even more!. I’m swapping morel hunting for trout fishing this weekend.
