4lbs this morning. Allegheny County. Small but cold weather is on the way.

 

Nice! Yeah, you might as well grab them. I live in NE Ohio and they are calling for a real cold snap with sub-freezing overnight temps. Good haul!

 

Got a few from my earliest spot. Most weren’t really ready yet, but I figured I’d get them before they got frozen over the next couple nights.

Heck, you're finding blacks! Something I've never done! Just be happy. I've thought of a spot to check tomorrow that I've never checked before. It's a south facing slope above a creek bottom. I've also never found a morel as early as this where I am, NE Ohio. I also know that I've never gotten out early enough to find them. This will be my first shot.

Found 4 Saturday and 4 more under same tree Tuesday.
I was in Allegheny County.
Thought the rain Monday would have popped up more.

My buddy and I accidentally found a honey hole while metal detecting. Most are pretty small but was not going out to that area for quite some time so took em home.

 

Finally found a few. Averaging a mushroom per mile is at least healthy I guess!

 

You need to go back to those spots again! I found my very first morels in my second year of hunting, and I checked that elm tree 5 times to find about 2 dozen morels under it. If you find a morel, it mean there is a mycelium in the ground there, and you may have just found an odd, early flusher. If you were late you would probably find old, soggy or dried out rotten ones in the same areas.

 

I know bud. I’ve been checking all my spots. Conditions haven’t been bad but not perfect yet. My yellow spots should be popping by next weekend with the upcoming weather

Found a good tree today.

 

Found a couple dozen total today. Pecker heads, blacks and yellows. Surprised the blacks are still out. Only my 2nd time out this year. Plantar fasciitis had me hobbled. Perfect timing for that.

I live in NE Ohio, but do most of my hunting at my fish & game club which is in western PA, right on the PA/Ohio border. I have developed a few spots there that I will be checking tomorrow. They got a lot of rain this afternoon with maybe more coming.

 

Was off due to the power outages, couldn't resist and went back to my last spot and grabbed a few more. Going to give it a good week. 4-5 real tiny ones came up in 3 days. I have a feeling there will be more.

 

Yesterday's haul was 3.1 pounds, today's is 2.2 pounds. Mifflin county, dying elms, 800 ft. elevation, southwest facing hilltop.

 

In Lehigh/Northampton it's just getting started. We've been out three times; found one the second foray and five big enough to pick today. We desperately need the rain forecasted for our area.

 

Same here, we need the rain to get things popping. All the ones I got the last 2 days were under 3 trees total, I have not come across any "free growing" morels yet.

 

Sometimes you find one and think, how many do I miss?

 

Couple dozen peckerheads and half dozen or so grays. Not much growing in my areas. Seeing a lot of really big yellows being found in PA. Needed a chainsaw to get thru the woods today after yesterday’s wind. Trees down everywhere!
