Beautiful, one of the best feelings is finding those small ones and one of the worst cause you are like why can't they be bigger Lol. But have been seeing posts in Georgia of a few finds already this feb. I will say it's been a crazy winter for me in Janesville Wisconsin. My Iris's are already coming up have seen my neighbors house with Tulips coming up and my Hycanths are coming up as well. Now these are at least a month early coming up if not more thank a month. Normally this time of year we have frost between 1 to 2 feet below ground we really haven't had any this year maybe 4 inches deep at one time in December right before Christmas when we had the minus 40 degree windchill for a few days. Have seen nightcrawlers in January and February this year. Had ants in my house already which is really early. I just don't know what to make of it, mother nature is definitely unpredictable Lol. But soo glad you peeps down there have started hunting, also saw they have had a find in Tennessee as well about 2 days ago, crazy!!! Good luck to you all and enjoy the hunt!!

Still nothing in Athens as of this past Thursday evening. Going to check again this afternoon but it turned chilly after the rain stopped, yesterday, so I doubt much else has happened. It's baffling how J Puette can have so many up already, and in my spot there are none so far, only about 15 miles south of there. My "urban" climate is noticeably warmer than the countryside, too, by several degrees nearly always.

I found about 8 in Clarke yesterday. A couple of em have been around for a week at least, the others looked to be about 4 days old. I'm beginning to wonder whether this patch might not be losing steam, I don't see any signs that anybody else has been picking there, and you can usually find cut stems if that has been happening. Who knows?

Here in KC the hardest part is dealing with all of the other hunters. Every time I find a spot that another crew has just hit I usually will find a decent amount of morels that got missed. We focus on timing and stealthy routes to succeed. If you run into us in the woods its cuz we done huntin. Haven't even seen another hunter with shrooms in the bag in about 4 years now. Ppl are lazy and scared to get dirty out here.
