Jpuette, I have a fruitful spot in Forest Park, GA that I typically visit the last week of March. Wonder if they are a poppin now.
On the facebook GA. Morel Hunters group (which is not public now, due to bad spamming, you have to join to see it), morel finds have been documented all over the north half of Ga., all the way up to Bartow County (Cartersville) and in the northwest corner of the state, and in Columbia County, near Augusta, etc. They are up pretty much all the way to the northern state line, except for the mountains themselves, supposedly. I still haven't found any in my most dependable spot, near Athens, but it's going to rain today and supposedly all day tomorrow, Friday, so the weekend might be a little better for me. MANY big ones are being shown as harvested yesterday from "inside the Perimeter" in Atlanta.

I am in southern Michigan watching the snow melt and dreaming of a day like this. Nice haul...thanks for the pic
Me too. Just finished up sugaring for the year so I can move on to something else. Too bad spring is at least 4 weeks off here. But on the other hand I'd rather have a cold March that melts into a warm April rather than a hot March followed by a cold April We all know how that turns out.

^^^^^^^^ THIS!! I remember a few years back when we had temps in the low to mid 80's for the first week of March. It got cold again, and the weather seemed to return to somewhat normal, but that was the worst morel season I've ever had! I only found one little, dried up crispy critter in any of my spots.

I found about 8 in Clarke yesterday. A couple of em have been around for a week at least, the others looked to be about 4 days old. I'm beginning to wonder whether this patch might not be losing steam, I don't see any signs that anybody else has been picking there, and you can usually find cut stems if that has been happening. Who knows?

That was 2012. Ruined the apple crop up here as well as a lot of other fruit crops. It was an okay morel season for how weird the weather was. I'm hoping we have a great year this year. SO far the moisture looks pretty good up here in MI and the temps are going to stay cool. I'm hoping to get down to TN this week and check out a piece of private property that look good for morels and then stop by and see Wade before heading home to do Jury duty. Then it will be time to hunt Indiana with Wade then back up to MI and hunt here... ending up in the U.P in early to mid June.

The majority of those reports are probably me. I have been having some very good flushes since late February here. I have been training my younger dog past three seasons, and this year she's getting a lot better and more focused on shrooms instead of deer.

I also wrote a mapping system that helps me narrow down where I want to hunt in Atlanta and avoid the crowds. I have found about four new spots this year because of it. Two of the spots being super productive. I think have harvested at least a pound of morels every day since Feb 24 in Atlanta.

The rain from last Friday has really helped a lot of the blonde morels push up through the leaf litter. I saw a ton of new growth today, so it looks like some of my areas are about to blow up again.
